Cameron Crowe - Director of warm, touching, hilarious and carefully observed films like Jerry Mcguire, Vanilla sky and the classis Almost Famous. Affected by pressures from the studio or a simple lack of inspiration, it's hard to tell, but this film is possibly the most vacuous, empty and emotionally dry effort to come from Hollywood in years. Orlando Bloom looks and feels uncomfortable, Kirsten Dunst borders on psycho-obsessive rather than being loveable, and the soundtrack (normally Crowe's trademark) is over-powering and cliched. The entire film is a flimsy re-hash of the infinitely superior Garden State - a film that everyone should see, which is a real shame, as it ticks all the boxes, but just does not deliver. AVOID!!! Save your money and buy Garden State instead.
