  Standing on the edge...of greatness?

This is my first Feeder album - and certainly won't be my last! Although this album was certainly a 'grower' on me - it has it's highs, aswell as lows (naturally). For me, the albums strongest songs are Buck Rogers; a great sing-a-long anthem of sorts, Piece by Piece; a quiet, yet moving song, and Turn, a slow started, but certainly lets rip!
Yet the real gem of this album, in my opinion, is Tell All Your Friends; an epic song with a killer chorus.
For me, the only let-down of the album was the opening track; which, with much listening, still doesn't 'grab' me, as I feel it should.

Feeder have to be the most underated band of the century - and I certainly hope this changes in the near future.

  It's all in fun

Despite Feeder's obvious growing commercialism at this point in their career, there are several reasons to love this album. The first, they still maintain their wonderful youthfulness that made them popular; note tracks Under the Weather and Choke. The second, their growing maturity is apparent; note tracks Piece by Piece and Standing On The Edge. The third, if we ignore the singles, there is some damn good stuff to be heard; particularly Tell All Your Friends. Just a note, however, as much as I love the track Bug, the original, Revolution, was far superior.

  Feeder Echo Park
Review created: 13/11/07

I bought this album 4 years ago. It was a bit of a head f'ck for me at first when I listened to it, since the material on this album sound entirely different to that of Comfort In Sound (which was the first Feeder record I heard & bought before Echo Park)- took about 4 listens before I could listen to the music properly, but after that it became one of my favourite albums, and I have been listening to it ever since. There are about 6 really good tracks on this, and the rest sorta serves as filler, the decent tracks are- Buck Rogers, Piece By Piece, Seven Days In The Sun, We Can't Rewind, Turn, and Under The Weather.

  Echo Park

This album is surely one of my favourite Feeder works. Every track could be released as a single, there's nothing I dislike of Echo Park. On this one there are many of their greatest singles: "Turn" (A dark and melodic song, it is about the fear of being alone, this is one of the best works off this album in my opinion), "Buck Rogers" (the song they became famous for, one that anybody knows!) "Seven days in the sun"(strong and fast song, it's got nice and funny lyrics) and "Piece by piece" (A great, calm, reflective track, the album is worth to own mainly for "Turn" and for this one). But there are some great album tracks too: "Satellite news", one of my favourites, a sort of anthem and one of their best songs ever, talking about dreams and future, then "Oxygen" and "We can't rewind", both potential singles. "Oxygen" starts off pretty slow, but then, after the 2nd verse, the song explodes as loud as anything with a heavy guitars sound and strong drumming. "We can't rewind" is still one of those songs Feeder are remembered for... nice lyrics and an uplifting and melodic chorus. Then after "Oxygen" we find probably the most underrrated Feeder song ever: "Tell all your friends", a nice fast song that is one of the best of the album, and that could have made a perfect double A-side with "Under the weather", the song that follows "T.A.Y.F.", that is of course another gem. The worst on the record are probably the intro and the outro "Standing on the edge" and "Bug" and also "Choke", an ultra strong track put within two of the blandest songs on the album. Anyway these are the worst of an album that is probably the best the band have produced so far, and to think they fit quite well the record with their sound, so there's no need to complain! Probably "Echo Park" wouldn't be "Echo Park" if just one of those songs missed! To make it short, this is an album that would be worth buying even if it cost thousand of pounds!
