superb comedy well worth to buy a complete classic written again by the brilliantr craig cash royle family yes this is a super comedy script and acting in perfect harmony have a look you wont b dissapointed.
This is classic British comedy , everyone knows these characters in real life. Every pub has a whinger , a know all and the resident womaniser. It is the dialogue that is the king though, the script crackles with so much banter.....Up The Regiment indeed !!!!
If you like the Royle Family then you will love this sitcom too. Its another one of those you can watch time and time again and still laugh....
Early Doors was written by Craig Cash who co-wrote and played the part of Dave in the Royle Family. Craig again plays a similar role in this sitcom as one of the dozey customers of "The Grapes" public house.
Basically this is the pub version of the Royle Family - different storylines and characters but the same very clever humour. Like the Royle Family it is the dialogue and passing comments which make this sitcom so funny and also like the Royle Family you can relate to the characters. If ever you have been in an old down town style pub then you are sure to have come across these guys before.
This is selling on ebay for under a fiver - a bargain to add to your comedy collection and well worth it !
Having watched some of the second series on the tv, I thought it only fitting to buy the complete series 1&2 as it has to be one of the funniest pieces of writing around!
I decided to buy the complete Early Doors series after seeing the back-end of the series on telly. After being very amused by the episodes I did see, I knew I had to watch the whole lot!
Having now watched the complete 1st & 2nd series I still cannot make up my mind as to who my favourite character is.... the short list is made up of *Winnie*, *Eddie & Joan* (neither are as good without the other) or *PC Ken & Nigel*. I can't think of her name but I think Jim's mam's inhaler should be up there too!
Similarly to Cash and Aherne's "Royle Family", I think that a lot of the best gags are unsaid and I like the way the director doesn't push them in the viewers face, we are just left to admire them for what they are.
This was a present for my partner for christmas. He enjoyed the series when it was on the television.Very funny and only recently learnt that when there are scenes with the policeman listen to the radio messages some very funny messages on there.
IVE BEEN A FAN OF THE PROGRAMME SINCE IT FIRST APPEARED ON OUR SCREENS THE PRICE OF THE ITEM ON E BAY WAS TOO GOOD TO MISS IT IS ONE OF THE FUNNIEST PROGRAMMES IVE SEEN FOR A LONG TIME
I had seen a few episodes on tv and found them very funny. After watching all series 1 and 2 on the dvd... decided the whole thing is totally hilarious.. Do not regret buying the set. It will be passed on to my sister who lives abroad.
Quite simply the best sit-com ever. Totally dialogue and character driven(no smashing chandeliers or falling through bars here, thank god). The entire cast are excellent, the writing is faultless and the characters are vulnerable, loveable and very very funny. It makes me laugh and cry and has me watching it over and over.Already had a copy myself, bought this for a friend,he loves it now aswell.I'm not saying everyone will love it as i do,but for those who don't,there's always Peckhams finest to fall back on.YOU PLONKERS!!!!
I loved the serial when it was broadcasted and I watched it again on DVD at a friend's house. We watched episode after episode and thought they were brilliant with the varying themes such as Ken's mother and the domestic cleaner, Ken and the policemen, the banter beteen the pub customers, etc A year or so later I remembered this and looked on Ebay first for it. I decided to buy the boxed set as both series were equally good. When I got it I played some of it to my partner's elderly parents. They loved it so we decided to buy them a copy for Christmas. The only downside was that when I bought it direct from DVD.co.uk it was cheaper than on ebay as it was post free rather than £4.95 with "coloured eyes" the ebay name of the same company!
