Dyson DC16 Root 6 Bagless Handheld Cyclonic Vacuum

This is the best ebay purchase ever. It is strong, has great suction and is small and compact. The battery life is a bit short, so do not think it will do the entire house, but for cat and dog hairs on the sofer this little gem rocks

If you are looking for a handheld vacuum, this is the one to go for. It's more expensive than all the rest, but justifiably so as it's far, far better.
Some people consider it's battery should last longer on a full charge — but the 5-6 minutes you get is plenty for any of the kind of jobs you would realistically do with this kind of machine (like stair cleaning or car interiors). And it recharges very quickly compared to the competition.
Suction is great, the tools are simple and practical and it looks good too. The two main standard tools are well designed — the crevice tool is the same as on many other cleaners, but the combined upholstery/all purpose tool is very good, combining simplicity of use with excellent design.

There are many handheld vacs on the market and many of them a lot cheaper. But there are very few that offer the same level of pick up power that this one does. One BIG thing for me was how LIGHT it is in weight! Its very deceiving as it initially looks very heavy but it isnt. The recharge time is very quick and it comes with a range of common attachments. The only snag is the recharge docking station looks a bit flimsy for the size of the vac, but it still does the job. Its definately worth the money if you want something thats going to last you a long time and does a good job all the way through.

Its as good as you will get for its size, its minuses are a weak catch on the top& short run time,if this can be changed at a little cost only the makers will know

I bought this vacuum for its portability and power. I am not disappointed, it has good suction for a machine so small, if only it was electricity optional, it would still be portable.

I have been mulling over the idea of getting a dyson hand held for a while now but I have not felt comfortable handing over £100 for an item that has had such mixed reviews.

Obviously I turned to e-bay, looking to find a bargain – which is exactly what I found. I picked up a dyson for £50.

Trying the vacuum initially I was impressed from the beginning, much more powerful suction than I had expected (even though this is the whole point in spending £100 on a hand held cleaner). After a few seconds though it ran out of power and stopped on me. This is the main area of complaint about the dyson – its 5-6 minute charge…

Well after a full charge I was able to hoover a flight of embarrassingly dirty stairs before it ran out of power – which I think is probably the largest job a person should be expecting out of a handheld. Throughout the suction was impressive, giving a satisfying amount of resistance while trying to remove the vacuum from the stairs.

All in all I give this a 10 out of 10. the relatively small charge is a non issue for me and is more than made up for by its impressive suction. And incidentally anyone who is disappointed by the dysons suction is simply expecting too much from a hand held. The absolutely blows away the competition in terms of suction – but obviously its steep price of £100 reflects this…

For the record I would hand over £100 for this vacuum without hesitation after seeing it in action. But luckily I got a pretty good bargain of ebay so I didn’t have to!

This is the best hand held hover I have ever used, it works better than my household dyson. Brilliant if you have wooden floors with rugs, as it picks up dog hair easily, and also fantastic for cleaning the car.

i had seen them demonstrated at a couple of different shows, and was very impressed at the power from such a small unit, but could not afford the £130 asking price. as you can imagine when i saw them on ebay at less than hlf price i bought one there and then, easy to use, easy to empty, easy to charge, what more can you want

after having a dirt devil that had a hard time picking anything up this is amazing great for doing the car and household spills and also handy for the stairs the charge lasts for about 7 min plenty of time to do all the small jobs it was designed to do.

It is excellent for cleaning the car and for small spills when you dont want to get out the hoover and unreal the cable for a 2 min job

bad point is the battery life maybe only 6-8 mins

Bought it for stairs and kitchen floor. It cleans these adequately, but isn't really powerful enough if you are used to the superior suck of a big dyson. It is much lighter of course, but the charge is insufficient for all three flights of stairs I have. Recharging takes way too long.

Arrived with all extras and warantee as described. Sent very quickly. I was pleased overall, but most pleased I did not pay full price of £130, because In my opinion it is not worth that.

I decided to buy a handheld vacuum cleaner to pick up crumbs and such like and to save me hauling out my cylinder cleaner on a twice daily basis. The only other experience of hand held cleaners I had was of a black & decker and it spat more out than it picked up!

The first thing that surprised me about the DC16 was how light and compact it was. It is very easy to grip and although you need to keep your finger on a push button to provide the power it is very easy to operate. The next surprise was how much suction it provides. Very impressive. It is ideal for using in the kitchen for picking up crumbs and the like, however, it is also fantastic for using in the car as there is no power cable it enables you to get into all the "nooks and crannies"

The DC16 comes with two attachments, a long nozzle for getting into awkward spaces and also an attachment with a brush. I would have liked to have some "onboard" storage place for these as you have to carry them around but they are light and very portable. I have noticed that you have the option to buy various other attachments which is good if you require specific ones.

The charge time states 3 hours for a full charge but as the charging plate is quite small it can be stored easily next to a plug point. Screws are also provided incase you want to wall mount the charging unit. Once charged the DC16 can be used for around 6-8 minutes.

All in all a very good cleaner which may be more expensive than many others on the market, however, they cannot compare to the Dyson as the suction is really very good.

Very useful little cleaner. Good power, easy to use and to empty, not too heavy. Better than any other hand-held cleaner that I have EVER used.

Excellent build quality & performance - possibly the best on the market at present. Price reflects this.
Would be nice to have longer running time battery option.
Spare filters are a useful extra so u don't have to wait until washed ones dry.

My new Dyson is great. Fantastic in eliminating dust balls on the wood floors and in the kitchen. For general zapping around and keeping things tidy six minutes is plenty of time for the job it was intended to do. Have tried other makes, but they were a joke with no suction at all. This actually does the trick!

Lots of vacuum power and lightweight, but battery life is very short at 6 minutes. I may look into buying a second battery then it will be perfect.

It's a fantastic,powerful little machine.Firstly the turbine head is great for cleaning up dog hair off the stairs,car,dog bed and sofa! The other tools brush and hose are great for getting into those hard to reach corners.I have used it for all sorts cleaning the TV, computer keyboard,back of cuboards etc.It takes 3 hrs to charge and lasts a good 6-10 mins if you use it continuously doesn't sound a lot,however it's designed to be used for quick,short tasks which it does admirably.Emptying it is easy and simply straight into the bin no fuss. It's convenient and easy to use just like any Dyson you can guarantee it will last if you look after it. Having a long haired Border Collie who moults like you wouldn't believe,I couldn't live without it! Basically I love it, the standard DC16 is great if you don't have pets, but highly recommend the Animal DC16 if you do. If I was rating it out of 10 would give 9/10 the disadvantage being the price a little expensive but worth it.

This is the perfect handheld hoover. Quality product that you would expect from Dyson. The suction is great for such a small product and with the attachments you can use it almost anywhere. It is quick to charge and easy to use. I purchased a mattress tool for my upright Dyson and it can be used on the handheld too.!

The handheld can be attached to the wall for easy use and it looks great too!

Overall, I am very happy with this product and pleasantly surprised by it's performance. I updated this from a dustbuster and the comparison is laughable - there is no comparison. Every home with children or animals needs a product like this!

I cherish my Dyson cylinder vacuum cleaner and when I decided I needed a handheld cleaner I automatically turned to eBay for a Dyson. There were quite a few to choose from and I opted for the ones with most detail in the description - having a photo also helped. I believe I lost a couple of bids first but was glad to win the one I won(!) The condition was exactly as described and I am not in the least bit disappointed. It does 'exactly what it says on the tin'! I will always buy Dyson and am now considering upgrading my cylinder to a newer model.

It's small and compact. Very easy to use. It was bought to use in the car and caravan and on small pick-ups in an emergency. The only thing I didn't like was having to charge the battery while it was on the machine. Unlike many portable cleaners this had the better suction.

bought this fo ruse in touring caravan.barrery charged for 10 hours & lasted about 5 minutes in total which in my opinion for the price is not good enough.good suction as described,just not enough long enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
do yourself a favor & buy a cheap electrolux......you can get 2 for the price of 1 dyson!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It has about as much suck as a flea.
My boyfriend is furious with me because I bought it for his birthday and it is RUBBISH.
So much for all those enthusiastic reviewers who said that it was the best on the market.

Build quality fantastic. Very powerful, as you would expect from a Dyson. Simplicity itself to empty and close again. Animal attachment excellent and clever removal mechanism for cleaning the brushes. First class piece of kit.

Item didn't turn up, reported this to ebay and heard nothing else?? How can i purchase anything else when this thing happens, eerything else has been fine. What are you going to do about this now, i would love to hear from you!!!!
