Duddits, Duddits, Duddits. This film is a film of a GREAT book by Stephen King. Plot: Four telepathic people thanks to Duddits go hunting, meet worm on toilet, meet big alien, aliens get machined guuned by pyscho Morgan Freedman, some of Duddits friends get killed, one gets imprisoned in own head, ones hurts his leg but saves the world. Duddits is not handicapped but is really an alien and saves the world too, all in 210 minutes. The book took me two weeks to read. I like the book better.
This was a typical Steven King classic. As always they can never be as good as the book but it came close. A good view for any Steven fan with its usual twists and turns
Good cast, atmospherically erry at times (not to mention occasionally gorey), as befits a story by Steven King. Some nice detail about the nature of fate, destiny, etc. Worth a watch.
for those of you that are Stephen king fans, and have read this book, you may be jumping over the hoops to see this movie. unless you want to be disappointed then watch it. i recently read the book and was drawn into kings world and totally engrossed in the book, so naturally i wanted to see the movie, but the movie is well not to standard. the middle and ending of the movie are nothing similar to the book at all, its like they could not be bothered to read the rest of the book and made up their own ending. don't bother unless you want to be disappointed. the people acting In the movie looked lost more then knowing what they were doing. i sat throughout the movie with a frown on my face
What utter tripe!! What on earth was Morgan Freeman doing ascociating himself with this rubbish. I have no objections to aliens, monsters from other worlds or indestructible beings intent on world domination. But it was quite obvious that someone was anally fixated and still thinks farting is funny. Why did it start in the middle of the story? There was no build up to the alien invasion nobody explained as far as I saw why they were there, what the grand plan was or given their apparent ability to multiply at an alarming rate why they chose to be in the middle of a snowstorm in the middle of nowhere when all it needed was one worm in the water supply The same has to be said about the team led by Morgan Freeman, whose character was obviously slightly more insane that the monster, who were they, where were they from and apart from attempting to destroy the worlds supply of helicopters what were trying to achieve. As for the special powers possessed by the young men what a red herring that was and what about the goofy youth who became a goofy bloke. No sorry this is one big NO NO and my copy will be on eBay tomorrow
Well, lets just begin by saying, "the book was way better...". Although an annoying phrase it does sort of fit here. The book was a lot more vivid getting you in touch with each of the characters vital to the plot. The phrases used like SSDD and others (colourful ones!) and many other apects of the book made me really want to watch how the directors had interpreted it. But although the movie isnt really all that bad, it is very different from the book, so if u've read it, I would say ur better off not watching it.
We bought it as we thought it sounded good but it was like a cheap imitation of Alien bithout being spin chilling, in truth it was a load of rubish but when you have no telivision and rely on dvd's it was good enough for the price we paid. Sorry to be negative but that's life!
I decided to buy Dreamcatcher as I had just finished reading the book and wanted to see how much of the film was true to the book. But as with most films there are bits that are different to the book, but a good film all the same.
this is a steven king horror movie. This film was bought because of the author whom wrote this I must say I did enjoy this movie but is not as good as some of his other titles though.
The reason I bought this product is due to the brilliance of Stephen King. I have read various books of his and wanted to see how the film adaptation compared. In this case although the film is quite good in itself, I feel the book was a lot better, and more interesting. I would still recommend the film to Stephen King fans, but there are possibly better ones out there. If you've seen the film, I would also recommend the book!!!
My Hubby is going through a spell of reading Books by Stephen King, this one he is half way through and is really into it. So we get the dvd and boy, it was so compelling we sat all the way through without having to pause for the usual ie-drink/toilet etc. To sum up, It's about 4 boys who help out a handicapped boy from getting done over by 3 older boys. They continue as friends through childhood but lose touch with the handicapped boy. We see them all reunite at a log cabin, and yes you have guessed it, it all pretty much goes wrong from there. I don't want to give too much away but you will never guess what happens, because Stephen King always manages to let that amazing imagination of his, just blow you away. Then just when you are allowed a bit more of the plot you think, oh i know how this will end. How wrong you are, we really didn't see this type of ending coming at all. The story built up so much that we expected a far better and different ending to the one we got. Don't let that put you off though, as it's still quite an enjoyable film, and it had some pretty superb acting in too.
Based on the Book by Stephen King, this is not one of his Best by Far! Although this Film states Excellent Entertainment & Heart Pounding Horror, I couldn't really understand Why?? The Film is about Your Young Friends who help & befriend a retarded Boy who in turn gives these boys a Special Power! Years later the four men are still haunted by these special powers which have become more a burden than a gift while they are on a reunion weekend trip in the forest to which they are challenged by an alien force. Worth a Watch Maybe?
Unlike many of the reviewers I thought it kept quite closely to the book although they had to leave much out as they do with most Stephen King adaptations. I enjoyed it and thought the acting was quite good and will watch it again.
This is a great film to watch that has you very interested in it at all times, just as you think you have got the story how you think it is going to go they always seem to change it so you are never sure who is goin gto do what or when they are going to do it.
I personally couldn't wait for this film to finish. Damien Lewis as an American - not good, but he got better as the alien creature took over him & he lost it! The alien creatures were appallingly bad.If you like alien creatures this will appeal but the storyline is boring the aliens suck and it really is not a great film, watch it only if there is nothing else on the telly.
