Unlike the previous review to this Van Morrison record, I think this is one of Van Morrison's best albums, up amongst the hugely successful Back On Top and Moondance albums. I would go as far as saying all the tracks on this record are great. I won't list the best ones because otherwise I'd list the majority of the songs. Instead, I'd only say I'll Never Be Free (Track 9), Ancient Highway (Track 11) and In The Afternoon (Track 12) are those which aren't really superb.
Days Like This has a sophisticated jazzy and chilled style as he experimented throughout the mid to late 90's. If you liked his Back On Top (1999) album, you'll definitely love this one too.
Available in stores for around £9.00 or here on eBay UK for around £2.50, I would seriously recommend this record to any Van Morry fan or even someone who would like to listen to an alternative type of jazz.
I bought it for the title track which I heard a couple of times a few years ago which is pure genius and Van Morrison at his best. The rest of the album is mediocre at best but I wouldnt hesitate to buy it again for the title track.
