This is an excellent work out which will leave you feeling like you've been run over by a bus the first couple of times but after that - WOW - you feel energised and refreshed, not to mention virtuous!
It consists of a warm up, with the usual stretches. A lower body workout which was obviously made up by Satan himself - if the squats don't kill you the lunges certainly will (only kidding, it is challenging but you soon get used to it). The upper body workout is excellent. You need a couple of weights and a chair to do tricep bends with. Again, its not easy - but its not supposed to be! Then you do an ab workout followed by a lovely cool down (my fave bit!)
Davina is actually quite good in it. Shes not overbearing, she lets the instructors get on with their job without any interfering. The instructors (Jackie and Mark) are very encouraging - one of them always does the 'easier' version for you to follow if you feel you need to catch your breath. They explain each move well and do 3 sets of everything so even if you do get a bit lost theres plenty of time to catch up. Its not one of those dancey numbers where you need a living room the size of a barnyard to do the complicated moves in. There are no complicated moves in this DVD - which is good news if you've got 2 left feet like me.
They do minute intervals of 'Fat Burning' throughout the DVD - 'only a minute' I hear you say? Just a tiny minute of fat burning? Well, yes, it is only 60 second bursts but OH MY GAWD, its 60 seconds of torture (well, ok - maybe a slight exageration!). Theres about four x one minute fat burning intervals in each section. They are tiring but really important if you want to lose fat as well as tone up. You DO get used to them - some I can do no problem, others I can only do half of - just go at your own pace and you'll be fine.
Overall this is one of the best exercise DVDs I have ever bought. I actually ENJOY doing it - which if you knew me would shock you to the core. I'm not a fitness freak - I prefer to sit on my arris eating chocolate, but due to that particular bad habit exercise is something I have had to take up whether I like it or not and this DVD just makes it a more enjoyable experience.
Bought this DVD 2 weeks ago. After doing all workouts 3 times a week for 2 weeks I can really feel and see the difference in my body- more toned and 4 pounds weight loss.
Your body will hurt a lot after few first workouts though (especially the legs) but it is well worth it!
Need to excercise but be warned it really works - could hardly walk the next day and did not even finish the first set its hard but really works the muscles - so if like me you don't normally excercise take it easy the first time you use it.
This is a very good workout dvd, i avnt got time for the gym so you can do this workout in the comfort of your own home. The dvd covers all areas of the body, i was recomended it by a friend and it has done amazing results for her.i can actually feel the results myself well done davina!! i really recomend this dvd to anyonexxx
I love Davina - but think this DVD is really hard and advanced - I am not an exercise enthusiast but I am quite fit - this lacks motivation for me - there are no count downs to the last few (personally someone saying 4.....3......2......1 motivates me this is aimless it is about a minute per action and you have no countdown to the end.
Sorry Davina you do look fantastic but your personal trainers leave a lot to be desired - I have done many of these DVD's and in my honest opinion my favourite so far is Vicky Entwistle - it is hard, achievable and you can relate to it.
I bought this as I cannot get to the gym with looking after small children of my own and my husband works all sorts of shifts. So I decided to try something at home. I think this is great as you can go at your pace, you can take it slowly as you like or work hard as you like.
This is a really great dvd. I'm not a huge fan of Davina but the way she grimaces along with me while this dvd is going is really funny and quite encouraging. The exercises are tough - enough to make you really feel like you've done yourself some good. You can mix and match the different sections to create your own workout if you haven't got the time to do the whole thing (about an hour altogether). Just make sure you do the stretches at the start and the end of the program or you will really regret it next day. I had a severe case of jelly legs the next morning and had to hold the rail to stop tumbling downstairs. I have several exercise dvds at home and this one is definitely my favourite.
Amazing DVD easy to do fast pacy and fun!I really enjoy doing this DVD you can really feel it working and see the benefits quite quickly Its sharp, entertaining, pacy and fun.
Has thre separate sections that concentrate on legs and bum, upeer body and abdonimals - also a warm up and cool down. The legs and bum section is definately the hardest however it does get easier every night. Also includes 'fat burning intervals' lasting a minute each in beetween each workout - this is good as gives you a sense of progression, as you do each interval you know you are getting closer to the end of the section.
This is probably the hardest exercise dvd I have ever done. From the start I felt my muscles starting to ache and I was using muscles I havent used for years. Well done Davina.
Only dodgy thing is the music - not my taste, but you can easily get past that
I love Davina and think she has a great tv presence. This dvd contains 3 workouts and a warm up an cool down which all lasts just over an hour. The exercises are tough at first, especially the legs and bums one, but by the end of the first 2 weeks you can really see the difference! I'm more streamline and toned than before. The dvd is great when the weather's bad and I'm not able to go for a run and it's nice to be able to do it in the comfort of your own home.
The only downside with this dvd is that it's mostly concentrated on toning, whereas her other one 'High Energy Five' contains a balance of toning and cardio. I do enjoy this dvd but if you are going to buy a fitness dvd, I would recommend Davina's High Energy Five.
Definately worth buying if you are sometimes short of time but want to do some form of exercise. The whole workout is 1 hour with a warm up and cool down then 3 separate sections that work on bums/legs, abs and upper body. So depending on which area you really want to work on you can do all or just 1/2 sections. As a mum of 2 little ones, I find I can fit in after putting them to bed then stop at different points to make tea! Davina and her trainers are very personable, you can see she actually finds it hard work and she's been doing it for a year! So when tou're puffing away it makes you feel a bit better! Listen to their advice and take it easy at first, I was aching for days after my enthusiastic 1st attempt! The only thing I don't like is that after 2 weeks I know now every little joke and comment but of course you'll get that with any exercise DVD.
WOW- just finished my first session. I haven't done any aerobics since high school & to be honest have always been a little work shy when it comes to exercise, but after 3 children my body is nolonger what I want it to be and i'm seriously fed up with being embarrased about my figure. So I am now praying to the god called Davina (& weight watchers new fantastic range of ready meals. yum yum) for help. Judging by how I feel now, walking in the morning might be harder than usual. But my god come summer it will all have been worth while. Great workout. Hard work but not constant so you can rest a little between sessions. Music is a bit iffy but that isn't what helps you get into shape anyway. Thank you Davina x x x x x
I bought this video because I have a range of others, its very hard and difficult to manage the exercises even though I consider myself to be a fit person and complete an hours work out (usually from a video/DVD)every day. The music of the video is not my taste and Davina gets a bit annoying after a while. I did not like the stop and start of the aerobic and toning exercises as was I have warmed up properly I like to keep going. very average in my opinion. The only thing that saves it is that it is a good work out if done properly.
I bought this as it comes reccommended in many reviews and comparisons. The best thing that I like about it is that the aerobic parts are only one minute, regular, short bursts during and between toning sessions, rather than a long 20 to 30 minute session (which I would find too hard and end up not making the effort). Davina looks like shes working hard and it makes me want to, as I can see that that's what is needed to get results. They demonstrate an easier option if you find it difficult and you can work up to the the harder option as you become fitter and more confident. The music is supposed to be Davina's favourite but it's not my personal taste and that is the only slightly negative thing I could really say about this DVD. However the music IS suitable for exercising to and that's what it's all about. ENJOY!
I like the way it recognises that I can't keep up with everything from my first attempt and still encourages me to keep going. Also you can see that Davina is really working hard herself.
I already have a Davina work out DVD and really enjoy doing it, but I wanted a selection so as not to become bored, I actually prefer this one, to my first one as it has a lot more intensity on the bum, thigh and tum areas which is perfect for me. I also like the way they break them down into sections so that when you do not have as much time you can choose the half hour sections that you want, her personal trainers are very good and I enjoy the workout, not too aerobic so most people should be able to do this, if you prefer a more cardiovascualar work out them I would recommend a Nell McAndrew one. Obviously you would need to do some excercise at least three times a week for it to become effective and for the results to show, but I would certainly recommend this for beginners upwards.
Great Exercise DVD, really energetic exercise routine with good music tracks. Easy to follow routines and great mix of fat burning exercises and muscle toning. Really enjoyed this!!! Can easily split this routine into manageable chunks throughout the week. Would recommend this!!!
The workouts are great - the time goes by really quickly because Davina's personal trainers have built in interval training to the programme. Davina looks great and always comes over as quite 'normal' in celebrity terms!
This is one of the best exercise DVD's I have tried and trust me I have done a few. With a 7 month old baby I need something that is easy to do, needs mimimal advanced planning and can fit around his sleep patterns, and i have finally found it. The DVD is separated into WARM UP, LEGS AND BUMS, UPPER BODY, TUMMY AND COOL DOWN, and you can choose to do it all(about 1hr) or just one area ( about 20 mins). The exercises are easy to follow, and cover all abitilies and the music is great. Would recommend this to anyone who has a lot of fat to burn but not much time to do it.
wow brilliant workout but my muscles hurt for days, davina is way too fit!!! music is good to listen to and really helps get you moving. the whole dvd is possible i am new to this type of workout & i can do it even if i do ache
I have quite a few workout videos/dvds as I am a busy mum with neither the time or money to spend at the local gym, but I do like keeping in shape. I'd heard a few mentions of Davina's workouts so thought I would give this one a try.
The first time I tried this workout I must admit that I wasn't too impressed, I thought it a bit dull, I didn't think that either Davina or the two personal trainers were enthusiastic enough to keep me motivated to finish the workout. On some of the exercises (not all) I didn't feel that enough explanation was given on correct positioning of the body, and so if I was not an experienced exerciser I could have done them incorrectly. I did however complete all the exercises and boy did I feel it the next day.
I have tried the workout again, and must say that I enjoyed it more the second time. I like the format, a warmup followed by 3 separate sections legs/bums, upper body & Abs with quite a few 1 min fat burning sections thrown in, followed by a cool down. You can go at your own pace, each exercise is done in 3 sets of eight, and, if you find it too much, one of the two personal trainers shows you an easier version of the exercise, enabling you to catch your breath and then join back in. You do not have to do the whole tape at once, you can do each section on separate days.
Overall I would say that this is a good workout, but wouldn't recommend it to a complete beginner.
