Corpse Bride (DVD)

the d.v.d was worth watching,a good story line though i was a little bit disapointed it was animated,i love jonnie depp films and his animation caricter was a good likeness.i bought it because of jonnie depp and did enjoy watching the film.

When i first saw this i really didnt think id like it but i did i love how he has got himself into a pickle and hes trying so hard to get out of it.

If you are a fan of Tim Burton, you will love this film, my children 9 and 7 thought it looked quite scary but were soon loving it. It tells the story of a couple Victor and Victoria who are forced to marry but Victor runs away and ends up accidently marrying a corpse bride and she takes him to the underworld, which is a much brighter and happier place than the living world. wont give too much away about the plot, you will have to watch it. Fascinating extra scenes on how the film was made with puppets and you get to see who did the voices, really interesting for the kids to see how much time and effort goes into making a film like this. Enjoy!! well worth buying.

Tim Burton is a genius with a style all of his own. The imagination that goes into both the story and characters draws you into the film and keeps you there right to the end. i would highly recommend this dvd and also nightmare before christmas , also by burton. i bought both films for my son ( well that was the excuse anyway!) These story's wouldn't suit kids under the age of 7-8 due to their dark and slightly creepy contents but i'm sure anyone else will love it.

The film is quite a good film. I bought it cause it sounded good and it was on HD DVD. I wanted to see what an animated film was like on HD DVD, all in all the film was good.
Johnny Depp again... wonderful voice over on the character Victor.
It is a film, that will keep the kids entertained.

i love johnny depp and have a wide collection of his films so when i heard he had done this film with tim burton i had to get it - there filsm are always fantastic and this does not let the fans down.

MY DAUGHTER IS A BIG FAN, HER OLD COPY HAS BEEN WATCHED OVER AND OVER, IT'S A BIT SCRATCHED AND WORN, SO I BOUGHT HER A NEW COPY. (ALONG WITH A SET OF FIGURES, THE COSTUME, THE WIG, THE DEAD FLOWERS BOUQUET, BLANKET, LIP BALMS ETC. - I LOVE EBAY. HA!)
AWESOME FILM, EQUALLY AS GOOD AS "NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS". BETTER THAN ANY COMPUTER ANIMATED FILM.

Im a Tim Burton fan and this was another DVD to add to the collection.

I absolutley love this film, the characters are hillarious and the storyline is so original. Unlike The Nightmare Before Christmas this story by Tim Burton doesn't have a cult like following; which is such a pity for it is a magnificant and entertaining animation and is very enjoyable (as you would expect from Tim Burton).

Anybody who has seen The Nightmare Before Christmas has to see this atleast once before making an opinion on it (I know of people who refuse to watch it) It is an amazing story and filmed well, it's a must see for everyone ^_^

It has a happy ending for all but Emily (the corpse bride) who never actually gets married which is quite sad... although she does get her revenge upon former fiancee. With funny songs and comic characters it is all in all a great film for all the family!

After enchanting audiences with "The Nightmare Before Christmas," Tim Burton brings another stop-motion animated spectacle, and Whenever there is a Tim Burton film, Johnny Depp will usually be leading the charge. "Corpse Bride" is one of those instances. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter lead a talented cast of actors in providing the vocals to their characters. Depp gives Victor the frightened, insecure persona that befits the young man who is unsure of just about everything in life. Emily Watson does the perfect counterpart for Victoria. She is more confidant and less shy than her groom-to-be and she brings out the more attractive qualities of Victor. Carter provides Emily with a loving and caring demeanor. She genuinely cares for and loves Victor and she will do anything to make him see that. Even more skillful is her ability to bring out Emily's sadness. Audiences will feel her pain when she cries and the emptiness she feels when all she needs is love. The supporting actors are also expertly cast including Christopher Lee, Albert Finney, and Michael Gough. Each performer's voice brings out the ideal quality and trait of their character that one can imagine them performing the role in the flesh.

I BOUGHT THIS DVD BECAUSE I HAD SEEN CLIPS OF THE FILM AND THOUGHT THIS WOULD BE A VERY GOOD FILM TO WATCH BUT TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT IT WAS RUBBISH

Very well thought-out offering from Tim Burton. The usual surreal characters, voiced brilliantly by the fabulous Johnny Depp and also Helena Bonham Carter amongst others. The animation creates a wonderfully creepy atmosphere, which is necessary in telling the unusual tale of a shy groom accidentally "marrying" a corpse bride. There were some amusing scenes, particularly in the underworld where the dead characters were enjoying a party with all singin, all dancing skeletons providing the entertainment.

Able to be appreciated by adults and older children, but younger kids might find the storyline difficult to follow, and might be disturbed by the images. The packaging is attractive, and the movie is a nice addition to any movie buff's collection. I personally bought the DVD without having previously seeing the movie, as I collect Johnny Depp movies. I was pleasantly surprised.

ANOTHER GREAT FILM FROM TIM BURTON. SICK OF ALL THE LOVEY DOVEY PRINCESS FILMS THIS IS GREAT SO DIFFERENT AND ENTERTAINING TO ADULTS & CHILDREN (OLDER).

The kids loved this film and if any adults enjoyed nightmare before christmas then they will love this just as much as the kids. Theres a lot of singing and a lot of laughs. This is a film to be enjoyed time and time again

i bought this dvd for my daughter and i must admit,i loved it too,the story line is good and very funny,and very different,so this one is not just for kids

I have wanted to see this film ever since it came out and had not got round to buying it. I realised that it was being sold by the same seller as nightmare before christmas so I bought both at the same time. This is another excellent film from Tim Burton and a welcome addition to my film collection.

Overall this is another excellent Tim Burton film. Although I did feel it wasn't as good as The Nightmare Before Christmas. A truly intriguing story as always with twists and turns. To enjoy this type of film and fully understand it it's a full watching experience not something that can be casually watched while doing other things. Highly recommended but if this type of film is new to you do watch The Nightmare Before Christmas first (and dont be surprised if you find yourself singing the songs for weeks).

i found this a very entertaining light hearted dvd. it was relaxing to watch
after a long day at work. if other tim burton films are the same they will be worth viewing

This film is fantastic especially if you are a fan of Tim Burton. The stroy is a love story with a twist. The animation is fantastic. A very moving and funny film.

I saw this film at the cinema and I couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD but when it did I had a cash flow shortage and I couldn't get it it till this Oct when I found it on ebay for a fab price.

A Must SEE

This movie is great! If you liked Nightmare before Christmas, then you won't be disappointed. Tim Burton has done it again. The music is catchy and recognisable. The quality of the animation is excellent. Altogether, a brilliant film

this is a must buy for all tim burton fans. Or even if you havent seen anything of his before you will love him after watching this.
the movie follows the story of victor who is taken away from his true love victoria and married to the mysterious corpse bride.
good graphics,interesting plot everyone should watch this at least once

Corpse Bride was a movie i was very interested in, when i looked on EBAY i found a good seller who was offering the movie at a good price. The movie arrived with in a few days, and was in still factory sealed as it had said on the buying page. Movie is fantastic, and i've had no problems.

I love Tim Burton's movies, so it is no surprise that I love this one too. However, the film stands on its own merits. The characters are brilliant, and you feel for poor Victor. Anyone whose been terrified of public speaking will sympathise with his character's awkwardness of saying his vows; and as someone who is inherently accident prone I felt for his character's clumsiness too.

The only fly in this otherwise flawless ointment is the character of Victoria Everglot, Victor's intended. I am sorry but I have to agree with my 8 year old daughter, he should so have married the corpse bride who seemed much better for him (as my daughter told me "I know she's dead, but she's still got lots of skin").

There lies the rub, you can almost forget about Victoria's presence altogether so tepid is she and I am not ashamed to admit that I was, along with said daughter, almost wishing that Victor WOULD drink the poison and join the corpse bride in the dead world. Especially as Victoria's parents are the sort of in laws that would make you wake up at night wishing you WERE dead.

That one character aside this film is brilliant and if you like movies like 'The Nightmare before Christmas' (another burton feast) and any of the 'Wallace and Grommit' movies then you'll like the animation here too.

Give it a go; unless you loathe Burton, Depp and Bonham-Carter (Burton's real life partner) then you won't be disappointed in this film.
