Constantine (DVD)

This is an action film with very little action, a horror movie with very little horror, a religeos film with its' own religeon.
Constantine is a film that has more to say and more ideas than most hollywood films ever even consider. For a start it's set in a world where God and the Devil exist, where half-breed angels and demons walk the earth and where a lone chain-smoking mystic is fighting for his very soul. The character of John Constantine is actually one of the best things about the film, he's the sort of absolutely desperate wooden hero Keanu Reeves is actually the best choice for, like 'speed' a single shred of plausibility would ruin this.
The story is very complex but easy to understand.
The soundtrack is a suitable mix of tech-rock and operatic spooks.
Basically; if you're looking for a Politically Correct peice of tea-with-the-vicar no-sex-before-marriage fun, go away. If you want a mindless action peice with cheasy one liners, go away. If your looking for a startilingly intelligent screw-the-establishment-and-the-preists-and-all-authority thriller that gives you high rewatchability and simply oozes pure cool, you've found your film, enjoy.
NOTE : some may be offended so you should probabley rent first before buying, whoever you are.

Although not usually a fan of Reeves, I enjoyed his portrayal of Constantine; a man who is condemned to hell for committing the great sin of attempted suicide. He attempts to return into God's goodbook by exorcising demons but gets caught up in the middle of a demon's plot to take control of earth.

A nicely done film with plenty of action, nice acting, and a decent plot. If you're into films about hell, heaven, demons and the such this is a film for you. An easy and enjoyable watch.
