Cold Mountain (DVD 2004)

Excellent film, Great acting, seen about 4 times now and I cant believe I ahvent brought this dvd sooner :)

Intense drama, moving amd funny. Rene Zelwegge was particularly magnificent, she seemed made for the part of Ruby, whereas although Jude Law and Nicole Kidman's acting was superb, they didn't feel quite right for the characters from the book. A minor criticism as it was a truly great film. We bought this to consolidate my daughter's learning for her AS level, and because we had both read the book. After I'd bought it, I realised I'd watched it ages ago, but because it has so much in it, I could watch it again and again.

It is just the most wonderful movie, for anyone who thought Jude Law was just another good looking British so so actor? then this is the movie to change your mind. You just will him to make it back to kidman!Makes you wonder why he has not had a good part since?? Yes after a hard week at the office buy a good wine and settle down with this one!!

I BOUGHT THIS DVD BECAUSE IT WAS ON OFFER AND STARED FOUR OF MY FAVOURITE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES. FROM THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE FILM IT HELD ME WITH ITS WONDERFUL SCENERY, ACTING AND STORY-LINE. THE FILM MOVED AT A GOOD PACE KEEPING ME ENTERTAINED THROUGHOUT. THE ACTING WAS SUPERB BY ALL, IT MADE ME CHUCKLE, IT MADE ME CRY WITH A DEEP AND POWERFUL STORY THAT MOVED ME. IT HAD EVERYTHING.

THIS IS A FILM I CAN WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN. LOVED IT!

Powerhouse drama of two women struggling to survive at the time of the American Civil War. A little on the long side but as a tragic love story it takes some beating.

I bought this film as I have just finished reading the book. I enjoyed the story very much and was intrigued to see whether the film would be as good. On the whole the film stuck to the plot pretty closely. There were a few scenes that were altered for the benefit of the viewer and obviously it is hard to capture the atmosphere of a book, but overall they did a good job. Warning...don't watch it if you are sqeamish or prudish. I was hoping to lend it to my mother-in-law (she lent me the book) but there are a few scenes of an adult nature that she would not appreciate! The battle scenes are a bit gruesome, but in context with the story, entirely necessary.

Great interpretation of the book and how the film was made. The war scenes and torture and killing are very gruelling but as each story unfolds the characters help to keep you interested in finding out what happenned to them and of course their is a bittersweet happy ending!

this is a fantastic film. Quite gripping may have you on the edge of your seat but an amazing story. Brilliant performances from all the actors. Think you may want to watch again and again.

I was watching the film on television, but missed the first half. The acting was really good, the scenery very nice, the music was excellent. It was a very interesting film with a good story. Some parts of the film seemed cruel at times, but that is the way it is portrayed.
I bought the film because I did miss the first half, and enjoyed the music.

i love this film so much. i thought it was heart warming and an edge of the seat kinda film to i recomend this film to everyone children might find it disturbing though meaning younger children......

this was the first film about male bonding/homosexuality that i have ever watched and i am 50 years old it was a real eye opener and an insight to the real love and deep feeling two people can have for each other no mater what there gender. It was very tastefully done i thought, I decided to purchase this film on the spare of the moment and was pleasantly surprised i would recomend it to and one and every one with an open mind and heart.

Happy with DVD. Seller charged £1.70 for postage but only paid 1st class stamp. Insufficient postage paid by sender therefore had to pay £1.11 and collect DVD from sorting office (24 miles there and back.) Same thing happened with another DVD rreceived by sister-in-law, a week earlier (who happened to be staying with me at the time.) She too had to collect DVD from sorting office and pay extra charge for postage.

i have been trying to buy this dvd for a while now as i is a film my wife wanted to watch, i must admit i did not fancy it but watched it also, it proved to be what i thought a girlie type film which i was not really to interested in. But the wife enjoyed it

Having just read the book, I decided to see whether the film did it justice. It did stick to the text pretty well, the book obviously had a fair bit more detail in it, occasionally rambling, but on the whole a very entertaining film. Rene Zellweger played her part well but the character was much more interesting in the book. Nicole Kidman seems to be in everything lately, but I didn't think she put her all into this. But on the whole a very watchable tale.
