Canon PowerShot SD1000 / Digital IXUS 70 Digital Camera

I used to have an old one IXUS 7, but the new IXUS 70 is everything you can expext for the everyday use. Great quality, efects, lots of useful functions, but what is most important is the long-life batery. You can forget the last time you charged it.

Some problems with delivery but his was more than likely due to the courier and not the seller.

Overall this is positive feedback and I would happily use this seller again.

I`ve always been told that if I want a camera - CANON is the only choice!!! So I decided to buy one...IXUS SD1000 is GREAT camera with wonderful options and fast picture taking...I don`t even have to go through the extras which made the purchise even GREATER...

i really liked this camera especially because canon cameras are very good in general. The only problem that i found was with downloading the pictures yet i found another way in doing so.
the camera takes very good quality pictures.

I bought this camera to replace my daughters stolen Canon Ixus 50, I found that it was a refurbished (by Canon) item which did not worry me as I have fired it up and taken test shots using all modes. The start up time is amazing just over one second and its ready to shoot! The photographs it produces are up to Canons usual high standard and I am sure that my daughter will be over the moon with it! It came with a 4gb SDHC card which works fine and gives over 1200 shots on highest quality, also included were a basic starter kit which included a case, mini tripod and lens cleaning kit. The case was rather large and did not suit the camera so I purchased another from eBay, the other items are usable.

All in all a good purchase and recommended as good value.

Superb small digital camera. Wanted a decent point & shoot (take to the pub) Digital camera, have used Cannon SLR camreas for years so the brand was a plus for me. I find this camera easy to use and get great results.

i bought the camera as it was the one i wanted since xmas so i kept the money for when it was cheaper. i love the camera, it is damn easy to use and the picture are good quality. the standard of the service i was not happy with.
the camera arrived from usa and had an american plug but it was not mentioned on the description, so i had to go out and get an adaptor when i could use it.
plus when it was delivered it was left a neighbour, who i don't particularly like so i was not happy with it either. i have email the sellar to let him know about all this , but he never came back to me! ha only got the money the same minute i won the item , why bother hey? all in all a good transaction!

Good quality of pictures, quick shooting. Nice interface, easy menu. It was with memory card reader stich what was very helpfull!

camera works very well and is so easy to use. it allso takes a very good picture that is very clear,it makes me look good.but best of all it is so easy to down load on to my pc. thank you.

From the seller that I bought it from and the price it was for was a definite bargain, especially for the Canon brand. The camera itself is incredibly easy to use after a small amount of exploration the first time user will get to grips with the many different fun and 'make you look pro' features of the camera.

One great feature is the ability to play with different colours that the user may snap, from a complete colour swap to the intensification of a particular colour. The ability to snap a panoramic view with this camera is also quite simple being that the camera does all the work and with the aid of a bundled software application the user only has to point and click to gain great stretched or panoramic pictures. The camera also has the usual modern camera features such as night shot, sepia, black and white and a good optical and impressive digital zoom which of course Canon is well known for being one of the best at.

I have yet to find any downfalls with the camera, and even though I have yet to drop it, 'hopefully not', says I, it does seem quite durable and well put together in a tight and tidy, tiny package (you see what I did there?... clever). I would recommend this camera to any first time digital camera user especially for such a good price as this camera is more than worth it.

If it can be counted as a downfall the only problem with this camera is that it gives the user a small taste of the world of photography and leaves them wanting more. More features and better equipment such as a Canon digital SLR for the sweeter shots as this camera gives the user a sense of ease of use This sense converts into; that if it is so easy to get such good pictures out of a small digital camera in the Canon range then the real Canon hardware must be capable of phenomenal results with regard to photographic play and outcome.

I was in 2 minds whether or not to buy this camera because of how small it looked. I am impressed with how much better it is than my bigger camera that I lost. This is a good investment!

I bought this camera as a present for my mothers 70th Birthday, I needed a camera that was small, hardy and easy to use, the SD1000 ticks all these boxes. It is by far the best little camera I have ever bought, if I can use it anyone can. Needless to say she loved her present and she can use it with not problems. Fits in the palm of your hand.

When I first tried this camera, I was intially disappointed - though it was nothing to do with the camera. I was comparing it to my Nikon D70s DSLR. However, when I started appreciating it for what it was: a compact camera, I realised it is infact, really great. Very easy to use, plenty of functions without being complicated, superb picture quality and sturdy little body. I highly recommend it - for a camera under £100, I am very impressed. Very small too, fits easily in pockets or handbags!

The only thing i could criticise is the cover for the battery and memory card slot is very cheap; needs very careful handling or it may just snap off.

Overall, a cracking little camera for the price!

Cant praise this enough, had an Olympus and Pentax digital cameras but will never look back after having this Canon IXUS 70.

Get a good fast memory card to reduce delay between shots, perfect little camera to carry round all the time and general holiday snapshots.
Impressed with photos in low light conditions so ideal for indoor shots.
Good in macro mode too.
And i do like to have a viewfinder

Also my local (established and reputable) dealer told me she has never had one of these cameras back for repair - thats what sung it for me when i brought mine.

This beauty is easy to use. It is compact and takes excellent quality pictures. I cannot fault it as a nice piece of kit.

I bought a Sony DSC-W300 which is one of Sony's latest cameras with an impressive 13.6mp output and various other features. It replaced a Canon SD600 which some thief decided to relieve us of. Within a day or two we realised it came nowhere near the quality and ease of use and prompted me to get on ebay where I came across the Canon SD1000. It is absolutely fantastic and mine came with a host of extras, all for £81.00 delivered!! The photo quality is amazing with some real neat features like colour swapping and colour detection. You can set the camera to detect a particular colour and make everything else black and white. Some great results can me made. What sets this apart from the Sony is the video quality and the fact you can zoom in and out which I was disappointed at not being able to do on the Sony. Despite the Sony supposedly being far superior spec wise I believe the video quality is also of a far better quality. I can display the pictures on my 42" inch HD television and the resolution and quality is fantastic - As you guessed It comes highly recommended. It truly is better than a camera 3 times the cost!

Having read all the other reviews on this fantastic piece of kit, all I can do really is echo their sentiments. When you check out the specs advertised for the Powershot they appear to be too good to be true but, nevertheless, they are! If you're looking for something you can slip into your pocket and take anywhere, look no further. If you want something that takes excellent shots that can, if required, be printed at A3 without any loss of quality, this is it. If you want something easy to use without taxing the grey cells too much, this little beauty will do the job. I would think even professional photographers would get a kick out of using it because of it's simplicity considering the myriad effects it's capable of performing. The only time mine let me down was when I tried to take some group shots in extremely poor light, and that was my fault not the camera's!

I was looking for a digi cam for a long time now. Now i got it. It is very gud. Service was very fast. Gr8 communication.

I love the fact that this cam is so easy to use without reading the instruction manual, basically point and click and play about untill you have the setting you want.. Great picture quality, easily switched to film mode and preview pictures mode.. there is nothing i dont like about this cam it is everything i have been looking for and more.
it comes with instructions, software, leads, case, cleansing solutions and of course the cam..
all the different functions are great, i espcially like the colour accent and the colour swap functions and have had great fun with these.
it is small enough to keep in your pocket but big enough to know its there and not be lost in a handbag..
it has a very quick start up speed which is fantastic because as many people know most fantastic photos just happen and with every other camera i have had i would have missed the shot by waiting for the cam to load up. but this cam is ready to go in less than 2 seconds.
even downloading the pictures onto the pc is easy, just install the software and plug the leads into the cam and the pc and your done.
All in all an amazing camera, great price, would have happily paid more now i know what it can do.

its is very good and the pics are great very clear. i am very happy with the camera and if needed be i would buy another one.

Affordable, Very easy to use, well made and ticks all the right boxes.
The picture is taken quickly rather than having to hold the button & wait so its ideal if you have kids.
The zoom is good, picture quality is excellent.

Prints on my high quality A2 photo printer/plotter with no quality loss.

Another wonderful product from Canon.The results from this camera are outstanding,I also own a Canon Digital SLR400D and the output from this SD1000 compare very well with the 400.The build quality is very good apart from the rather flimsy battery/card lid.This really is a 'Put it in your pocket and go for a walk' camera.The battery life is exceptional and with a2GB card you can really get a full days snapping done!
