Bought one when I saw the quality of a friends photo of his child in a race, at 8MP with the sport mode this was an amazing shot. With this camera I have been able to take my amateur photography to a whole new platform. Its ease of use for the novice is great too.
I'd love to be able to give this camera and lens combo the proper review that it deserves, but since the auction I won turned out to be a scam that cost me £400 I'd have to say that over all its poor. Not the camera that is, just the whole ebay experience this time. I've bought another one in a different auction and provided that comes through I'll do my best to write a proper review.
I've been reminded that my review was not exactly a true representation of the Camera, just my initial experience in trying to buy one. As such I've left the original text as a warning to all prospective purchasers but given the actual camera the rating it deserves. I did manage to on my second attempt to actually buy a 20D and it is truly a fantastic camera. If you have an EOS 300D/digital rebel andare looking for an upgrade the 20D is well worth the money. Its slightly bigger and heavier, but picture quality (esp. in low light) and handling compared to the 300D are greatly improved. I love the almost instant on with it too, I used to set my 300D for a 30min off period because there's nothing worse than lifting your camera up to take a shot and missing it because it had gone to sleep. In summary, if you can buy a 20D at a reasonable price (approx £400) from a reputable seller, go for it.
fantastic great results took me a long time to decide which one to buy in the end i settled for the 20 d,so pleased i did the results are outstanding taken my photos to a new level
I was looking for a Canon digital camera as a backup to my Canon 5D. I was able to buy the 20D for a very reasonale price. I have used it on several occasions and am very pleased with the results. The camera itself had been refurbished by Canon and is in excellent condition. I would have liked a bigger LCD screen, as on the 30D, but other than that everything is ok. I have fitted a new battery grip to allow for shooting more shots and am now looking for another Speedlite flash for it. All in all a very good deal.
It was not my first choice. This model was discontinued in 2004; It had been refurbished by Canon and the price was suspiciously very reasonable considering its pristine condition. I have now used the camera during my visit to the USA over the holiday period. I am delighted with the initial results and have added other lens. Without doubt this is a first class instrument that fulfils all the good reviews I have carefully perused. As a novice, I am looking forward to learning to use the full range of the camera's numerous aspects. It is an absolute joy to use and I can unequivically recommend this model.
This camera has a fast motor, can be incredibly easy to use with its fully automatic setting (will align the flash brightness with the brightness of the subject), as well as having many advanced features. The draw back to this camera (which I actually feel is a positive) is that it is fairly heavy (as it has a metal body construction, as opposed to the plastic one of the Rebel series). All in all, I feel this is a great camera, and for the prices available here, it is great value for money.
Purchased as additional camera. I like it because it is very similar to existing camera and hence easy to use. The service I received from the seller was excellentand the price was reasonable for an 'as new' item. R
I have been waiting long time to go into digital SLRs. Canon was obvious choice due to having several lenses with my film SLRs over the years.
EOS 20D is just right camera for "advanced hobbyist". i like the size/handling, top display [was looking into 350D/400D market], back wheel.
it starts up instantly.
coupled with a good CF card [like 2GB SanDisk Extreme III] one can make use of 5fs buffer.
As for the lens, I have to admit I wasn't very pleased with it [it is good basic starter lens if you don't have any other] and got rid of it in favour of something a bit better like Tamron's 17-50mm f2.8.
I used to have a Canon EOS 5 35mm film camera but lost a bit of interest in SLR's when the small digital cameras came out. Then I found that my Canon and Sigma lens's would fit the Canon Digital SLR's so I decided to give it a go and purchased a refurbished Canon 20D body and 28 - 50mm lens. Have never looked back as this camera has rekindled my interest in photography. The camera has some great features and I have taken about 400 pictures with it in a couple of months. Next stepis to get a new wide angle lens.
