i have seen this movie and i love my war movies and i can say without a doubt this is the best war movie i have seen and that includes all tour private ryans and we where soldiers and all the rest they dont have a look in here for pure brutality and realism 10 out of ten
I bought this film on ebay as I had been told that the battle scenes were as good as in Saving Private Ryan.
The story is set in June 1959 and told through the eyes of two brothers, who have seen their family torn apart by the Korean war. Brotherhood is an epic and heart wrenching story, which heralds the triumph of the human spirit in the midst of overwhelming suffeing and sacrifice.
The Film is 142 mins long and has English Subtitles.
what i like in this movie is basically this is an action movie and this is fantastic movie as i like fighting so i really enjoyed watching this movie.nothing is there which i dont like in it.
Simply one of the best war films out to date its about the korean war and shows the hardships the soldiers and their familys have to go throught as a result of their goverments and the main characters the two brothers fight to save their family and friends but the war starts to take its toll on them and they start drifting apart, it has certain quality's that you dont find in western made war films and for realism with intensity and goryness (if thats a word)that is on par or in my oppinion better that saving private ryan.
All in all an excellent film and I would recommend it to anyone who likes war film.
Although not normally a watcher of war, or foreign language films i recently came across it on tv. It is a totally compelling film in every sense showing us a different side of war (not a hollywood take) and had a very moving end. Obviously i enjoyed it so much that it had to be purchased
Great battle scenes, shame about the sub titles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I bought this film as a preasent for my father inlaw as he is a watcher of the war films i have not seen this film myself but the father inlaw said it was ok, and gave it 8/10 watchability. He said there was plenty of action in the film. But could not watch it again.
This movie is an over-the-top Korean version of Saving Private Ryan. There is much Spielbergian sentimentality, battlefield gore galore and even the same corny present day framing device at the beginning and end of the movie as used in SPR. The differnce is that instead of a band of brothers attempting to rescue one man, this movie has a single soldier striving to win a discharge from the army for his infirm brother by volunteering for ever more dangerous missions. Much has been made of Brotherhood as a homage to the survivors and fallen of the Korean War but the increasing cartoonishness of the film as it unfolds greatly diminishes its emotional impact. The final half hour is as believable as a Rambo movie. To be fair, Brotherhood is beautifully filmed, the special effects are excellent and it is highly entertaining in its own right if viewed as a lightweight popcorn movie.
