Excellent album, I'd been after if for ages but never got round to buying it, now picked up here for a bargain price. All the tracks seem personally heartfelt and written with thrue passion and dedication. A very earthly sounding album, emotional and powerful.
This was a great purchase for me and so cheap. Lots of the tracks I loved but hadn't got around to buying at the time of release. The seller was friendly and the item was despatched promptly and well packaged. The kind of smooth and easy transaction that encourages me to repeat time and again.
This is a good album, with good tracks and well balanced; highlights are "Desert rose", "Brand new day"; "A thousand years" and "After the rain has fallen"; though it's not his best album (which is "Nothing Like The Sun" in my opinion), it stands as a remarkable one, maybe his last good one...
wat can i say its a classic album had it before and lost it while moving.its the kind of album that u wouldnt get fed up of on repeat.sting if ya havent listen to any of his songs before now isnt too late.
i decided to buy this because while i was on holiday over in turkey i heard the track desert rose and thought it was brilliant so i bought the album and that is brilliant too
Sting has been one of my favourite artists since Police in the early 80ties. I also liked a lot his solo albums in the late 80ties and early 90ties. With this album he is flirting with different genres of music like he's been doing on earlier records. Mostly the the CD contains music which is typical Sting from the 90ties, but he is also adding country (track 8), jazzy tunes and even French rap, but mostly Sting pop with a large dose of 'World Music'. The problem is that I find the main impression to be less creative and less inspired here, compared to records like Soul Cages (1991) and Ten summoners' tales (1993). This is more like music for middle aged people conversating at cosy home parties, meaning not really listening. If I shall say what's on the positive side I would emphesize great musicians of course which has become one of Sting's trademarks. There are also some fine pop tunes here and there, and Desert Rose is maybe the best of them, but the impression of the record as a whole is fairly good, but there's not enough innovation and creativity here to rank above average.
While having other Sting CD's, this was one which we had not got round to purchasing. The CD was a great price and well worth it as this is now one of my favourite Sting CD's with a mix of the Sting you know and some songs with a different flavour, but still great easy listening throughout.
