Michael Jackson - Blood On The Dancefloor (CD 2003)

This album was released soon after the HIStory album. A total of 8 tracks were taken from HIStory and remixed, only the remaining 5 were new. Whilst this is a bit unusual for an artist the remixed tracks are very different to the originals so at least that's something. As for the new tracks, well they are absolutely astounding.

Stranger in Moscow is another great track on this album that deserves a mention. In the video it appears that Michael is walking through the streets of Moscow in the rain, when in actual fact he is walking on a treadmill in a studio. Very clever use of special effects there. He has been quoted in the past as having said he wrote this song whilst in Moscow and feeling very alone despite being surrounded by people. Very poignant indeed.

Or how about Earth Song? Who can forget the masterpiece video that accompanied that track. Out of all the artists in the world no-one can doubt that Michael comes up with the best videos to accompany his songs out of everyone in the music business. Each one is carefully put together until it reaches his almost impossibly high standards. Truly the King of music videos.

This album has gone on to become the biggest selling remix album of all time, and it's not hard to see why. However, due to its remixing of tracks from the previous HIStory album (some of which were done, well, badly) I have rated this as Good. If all the tracks were up to the standard of the title track and Ghosts, I would have given it an Excellent rating.

If you like remixes, this might be for you. But it's worth buying for the title track alone, even if you don't like remixes.
