I BOUGHT THIS DVD FOR MY SON, AS HE SAW THE FILM, ON TV, AT HIS GRANDADS HOUSE, & REALLY ENJOYED IT. I HAVENT SEEN THE FILM, MYSELF, SO AM UNABLE TO COMMENT ON IT
I bought this recently off ebay after seeing it many years ago. The story is thought provoking, heartwarming and inspiring. It follows the "life" of robot Andrew Martin, his battle for freedom and his desire for recognition as a human. The story highlights how many people have to fight against discrimination for their cultures and to be accepted. Well worth a watch, and highly recommended

I absoultly luv this film i thought it was the saddest film eva but still one of the funniest my wife and two kidz cried and it even brought a tear to my eye. We wnet to buy this because we watched it on tv once by and my girlz said ive neva watched that before can we get it so i went on ebay and bought it witch i am so glad i did.
A brilliant plot with a brilliant actor. A moving, funny and well designed film with a climax that brings a lump to most peoples throats. Reason for buying? I am replacing my VHS collection and could not do without this one.
Sadly overlooked and underrated, the Bicentennial Man is what a true sci-fi film should be. Forget all the sci-fi movies toting the tired old action-packed space opera themes of good vs evil or man vs monster, this little masterpiece, written by Isaac Asimov, shows that the genre can tackle serious social and psychological themes, such as exploring what it means to be human. Robin Williams superbly underplays an android who, over the course of the two hundred years in the title, struggles to understand humanity and ultimately tries to become a human being. It is a slow paced, gentle and heart-warming story that reminds us to cherish the obvious things we most often take for granted about simply being alive. A richly rewarding film.
