  A polished Hypnotic classic

The first two KoL albums were packed with catchy numbers that that were reminiscent of the 70's Southern rock sound of Lynryd Skynryd and America. although many of these tracks were compact and accessible, too many of the songs on these albums seemed to pass the listener by not possessing longevity. The new album on the other hand is consistent throughout and far tighter in terms of production values. It may take the more naive listeners a while to get into many of the songs, such as the slow-burning 'Ragoo' and 'Arizona', which turns out to be one of the greatest songs on the album after a few listens but given patience the album provides rewards.
The album provides some sterling up-tempo songs reminiscent of 'Red Morning Light' and 'Molly's Chambers' in the form of the amazing 'Charmer' and 'Black Thumbnail' both of which are standout moments. Some fans may feel dissapointed with the loss of the more country and Western elements of the previous albums but the overall sound is still far more unique than anything else around at the moment.
In its entirety this is an album that should be looked upon as one of the best albums of the decade in the future, it really is that good. My personal highlight is the three song conclusion of the album beginning with 'Trunk' then 'Camaro' (the best driving song in ages) ending with 'Arizona'.

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://apple.freebiejeebies.co.uk/45 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  Best album i've bought.
Review created: 20/08/08

I got told that Kings of Leon were excellent at T in the Park this year and i wasn't there. So i thought i'd buy the album to see how good they were, and i was not dissappointed. This album is excellent and i would probably go as far as to say, that this is the best recent album i've bought (just not quite as good as the old michael jackson stuff).

Kings of Leon - Because of the Times
Review created: 05/08/08

I decided to buy this CD as I have 2 other Kings of Leon CDs. I bought their second CD first for a mere £1 (without cover) in a Woolworth's sale, and I loved it immediately. I wasn't so keen on their first CD but they just get better and better and I love Because of the Times.

  Buy it!

The Kings of Leon have been in my top 5 bands for a couple of years - I discovered them entirely by accident and was instantly hooked. I saw them on T in the Park - the first time since they got their new image - and they were every bit as inspirational as the first time I heard them.
This album represents the very soul of KOL - if you think you might like it on the basis that you like what little you've heard of them so far, BUY IT and I guarantee you'll be so so glad you did! Worth every penny of however much you pay for it - you will NOT be disappointed!

Kings of Leon - Because of the Times - AMAZING!!

amazing album... I bought it after hearing On Call, but all of the songs are just as good if not better.

A good range of sounds but they still have that Kings of Leon feel about all of them.

  one for the collection
Review created: 30/05/08

i bought this album on the strength of the kings of leon' previous two albums. at first listen i admit i was a little disappointed. songs weren't immediately catchy and were less 'rocky' than their usual stuff. however, the more i listened to this album the better it got. the moody down tempo style of this album sort of grows on you, (great percussion on 1st track) and there's no mistaking their song writing ability. very rare for a band nowadays to bring out three good albums on the trot.

  Ragoo
Review created: 16/04/08

God this album is good. Ragoo is a real belter - one of the most memorable guitar riffs at the start. Loads of great little catchy bits and strung out lyrics. Mint voice too.

  Best Album by Farrrrr!
Review created: 17/03/08
by:

Kings of Leon have definatly changed since their earlier stuff. The tracks are more atmospheric (as has been said in a previous reveiw) and the bass has been upped for this album (you can feel it through every bone in your body). As a whole the album is great - there are several briliant songs, complimented by good and very listen-able 'lesser tracks'.

1.Knocked Up
This song is 7minutes long - it's good (quiet but smooth drumming; great bass, and then it all gets louder, which is good but seems a bit smudgy) but after 5minutes of it, becomes slightly tiring
2. Charmer
Much better - the screaming (very slight amount) rubbs off a more 'rock and roll' feel and the bass is excellent
3. On Call
Good bass again; quite a smooth easy-going song
4. Mcfearless
Good bass and guitar; more 'rythmic' singing - you can't help but move to it
5. Black Thumbnail
Great strumming; well complimented by drums and bass - it again makes you move to the music, but it's another long song. Not as tiring, however - the chorus is pretty 'rocked-up'
6. My Party
More strong bass and some great vocal work (assuming you like his voice) with the drums makes for a slick song with a nice breaking-up of style for the chorus
7. True Love Way
A quieter song, less striking but still smooth listening
8. Ragoo
Possibly the best track (either this or 9.). Some great lines and the singing lays down the slightly jaunty guitar, making yet another smooth ride. The chorus is a bit of a change of heart, but the kings manage to pull it off stylishly
9. Fans
Amazing song - the singing is great with the way Caleb (singer) pinches the lines in a such a different but beautiful way (this may sound wierd but I'm running out of adjectives!). The drumming and guitar doesn't get too overpowering and the bass is subtle but still enforces the choruses very well. The song also nods at the english (because kings are more popular over here), which is a nice touch
10. The Runner
Not a terrible song but probably the worst the album has to offer. The singing doesn't flow as well and the song seems spoilt (there's nothing wrong with the guitar, bass or drums)
11. Trunk
A forgettable song but a very easy-going one - especially the nice chorus ("woooooo")
12. Camaro
This song feels dragged out but is more of a jaunty, 'rocky' affair than the rest of the album. The singing feels more desperate and lacks the charm of the other tracks, bu there is some great guitar
13. Arizona
A swaying-lighter song. Slower but brilliant.

Overall, as I said, this is a great album and definatly worth your money and attention. It contains the lyrics which is always a plus for me (not for my friends and family though). I find it hard to classify the Kings of Leon. They are rock, but softer, possibly with a hint of Indie influence too.

  Brilliant KOL album!!
Review created: 10/03/08

A must for all KOL fans - an album with all memorable tracks, Caleb's voice continues to impress both live and recorded. The guitar and drums on this album are amazing and the combination does not disappoint. If you are a fan then buy it and if not give it a try.

Brilliant album, a must buy for everyone

So the Kings of Leon were faced with the prospect of the difficult third album, their first two were just brilliant. Youth and young manhood was fresh and sounded great anywhere, then Aha shake heartbreak came out around a year after the first album and was amazing seeing as the boys had to get it out this quickly. They look more time over this third album and almost 3 years after Aha shake heartbreak, Because of the times was released.

It shows the band taking a new direction, there are still the catchy lyrics and music with the perfect blend of hard rock guitar, amazing bass lines and some great drumming. It shows the band using new effects and also writing quieter songs with more meaning than songs in the first two albums. I don't really have a favourite song from this album as I find it way to hard to choose. It's between Knocked Up, Charmer and Arizona.

This is a must buy for anyone who is remotely into rock music, the album is so well rounded, so easy to listen to anywhere and it is just brilliant. Please buy it!

They Just Keep On Bringing It
Review created: 07/08/07

Most of the negative reviews about this albumn have been based around its lack of riffy based, fun or 'Youth and Young Manhood' esque rockers. I can only say, if you want to hear this type of music then have another listen to their first two albumns: Kings of Leon are developing and with gusto if I may say so myself.

The albumn is very different and, as has been mentioned before, full of atmosphere. I think the guitar effects used in production are fantastically subtle and beautiful, allowing the vocals and bass line to carry the albumn. However, they drop in the odd fantastic rocky tune, such as 'My Party', which would rip the place apart at a live show.

Truly an albumn displaying a maturing band with many idea's which are intricate and working very well.

  The Kings Just Get Better
Review created: 06/07/07
3 of 3 people found this review helpful.

Without doubt the finest rock band around currently, this is a fantastic collection from start to finish, personally I haven't heard a bad track yet from the kings, but this disk has raised the bar, strong melodic guitar & bass licks, hard hitting drum beats, and amazing lyrics, the sand paper voice just works wonders with their own system of music, even a twinkling of keyboards. They truely are the Kings of the World not just Leon, I have booked to see them for the 2nd time, if you get the chance, they are brilliant live, and they raise the roof and the crowd is wild...Keep it up lads
