My second copy of the most immediate and long lastingly satisfying of E numbers.
though Blinking lights is his best-this is where to get on and keep returning too.Shamelessly sentimental and often angry;it also makes me laugh.What else do you wnat music to do? O.K.you can dance if you really want to.

Great lyrics, great unusual tunes, just a brilliant album missed by most people because they aren't the 'in' thing. Bit like Semisonics older wiser brother!

A quietly superb albumThe Eels were always a relitivly quiet band never really making it into the main stream however with songs being recently being used in the Shreak films there popularity has, or atleast should have increased. With a heavy acustic sound the Beutiful Freak Album is neither for the pop market or the Indie rock market....... they are very unique in their own style with this album showcasing songs that anyone can enjoy. Melow and chilled yet utterly genious!

Eels make some awesome songs. The lyrics are heartfelt and personal and manage to be sensitive and brutally honest at the same time. The music creates excellent moods for the songs and fits the lyrics perfectly. In a world dominated by pop, R&B and samey soft rock, I find Eels to be a breath of fresh air. I first heard Novocaine for the Soul when a friend played it for me. I liked it enough that I bought the entire album. I was very impressed. It's brilliant music for melancholic or chilled out moods. I highly recommend it.
