Bad Company (DVD 2003)

I just don't understand how this movie got so many bad reviews.I brought this dvd lately and it was brilliant. The plotline was excellent and thrilling.
Chris Rock stars as Jake Wyler, whose twin brother Michael is killed in a mission. So the CIA bring him in to act as his brother to retrieve a computer. The catch is that it won't operate with Jake's Retinal signature:his eyes. The film overall is hilarious, action packed and gives a great performance from Chris Rock and I would definitely watch it again.

This is a spy action thriller in the Jerry Bruckheimer mold, that ultimately suffers due to the miscasting of the two leads. Anthony Hopkins as a CIA agent i can accept, but Chris Rock changing from a streetwise chancer to a sophisticated special agent almost over night (taking his identical twin brother's place) takes some swallowing. The interplay between them is stilted throughout and Rock's wise-cracking seems altogether out of place.

As a mindless piece of evening entertainment however it certainly fits the bill, just dont expect a modern masterpiece.

This film has 5.1 Dolby Digital Sound and is presented in 2.35:1 Widescreen. There are few special features to speak of bar a 'Inside Look' featurette and a DTS Audio track.

But the unusual thing about this is that it works.Well directed and polished perfomances from both the guys who tackle an engrossing and original plot which builds nicely to a nail biting finish.
Recommended.

i couldnt believe it when my friend asked me to buy her this film from ebay i had never heard of it i had to look on the net to get the name.

anthony hopkins and chris rock, what an odd pairing but let me tell you folks it works. chris rock does still bring some humour to the movies but is also able to play it somewhat straight, which i have never seen before.

basically the movie is about rock playing himself and his twin brother whohe never met, they where seperated at birth and raised seperatly, his twin goes on to be a very valued member of the CIA whilst rock is a street hustler. when his brother is murdered he must asume his life and go undercover to help save the world.

my friend loves this movie and told me to watch it before i handed it over to her and let me just say i'm glad i did, its a very good film, with a lot of action and wisecracks too.
