Amy Winehouse - Back To Black (CD 2006)

Words cannot describe this album other than it is probably the best soul album ever recorded. it has everything,jazz,soul,a bit of reggae, pop,hints of rock,bits of love ballads, everything.

The maturity and raw honesty of the lyrics is breathtaking. The vocal delivery is outstanding; mellow, thoughtful, soulful, Winehouse manages to convey a level of emotion and realism that is rarely achieved by solo, female artists. This is an adult album which deals with grown-up subject matter - and Winehouse should not be made to apologise for this.

It's almost uncomfortably intimate even within the mass appeal it has attracted.

Long may you run, Amy. This absolutely rules!!!

This is an awesome cd of instant r and b classics. It reminds everyone of just what talent Amy possesses. Well worth listening to!

I love the song "Back to Black". I wasn't sure whether I would like the whole of the cd so I bought it on eBay because it would be cheaper. Generally I enjoyed the whole CD.

THE WRONG INFORMATION WAS GIVIN,THE CD`S WERE COPIED ONTO A CHEAP DISC.

I PURCHASED TWO AND ONE DID NOT WORK.

When the debut of Amy Winehouse first hit stores in 2003, she was probably the lesser artist of the "Big 3" at the time: Joss Stone leading the pack, Katie Melua following with Amy somewhere in the ether.
Joss Stones huge backing from the likes of Betty Wright and ?uestlove left little if any room for 'competition' - Three years later Amy's sophomore album "Back To Black" stand on its own.

Reuniting with producer Salaam Remi from her first album, she works very closely with another 2003 former underdog Mark Ronson to produce a sound which makes more than a passing nod to 60's Motown - and does it very well.

Despite her issues with the tabloids, extracurricular activities and the criticisms on Nat King Coles daughter, A great vocalist she has always been - but her songwriting skills are phenomenal - this album is no exception.

"Back To Black" appears to be more commercially viable than it's predecessor with more catchy lyrics and hooks ("say No, no, no" to anyone, I dare you), However, the musicianship by which Amy should be known a lot more for, in particular, her guitar playing skills which were showcased immensely on "Frank", is watered down quite a bit here.

The Ashford & Simpson penned "Love Is A Losing Game" was adamantly acknowledged by Prince, who covered and later collaborated with Amy on the final night of his 21 nights in the UK could easily be classed as a Stylistics out-take.

A focussed album indeed with memorable moments which ranges the gamut of contemporary music as we know it.

This is a first class album. The lyric's are top class.
top C.D. Exccellent.I placed my order for it on e-bay. The seller responded very quickly and delivered it almost over night.We tried it out to make sure it was not a pirate copy, it was o.k. then I gave the C.D. to my wife as a mothers day gift and she is over the moon with it. She has made a copy of the album and she has it on in the car almost all of the time. she even had it playing whilst she was in the bath the other night.

I am not really impressed with this cd. It is quite strange really. Thought it would have been much better. I do like her as a singer, but heard better songs sung by her. Perhaps her next cd will be better!!!

This is without doubt a modern day classic, and an album which everyone should add to their collection!! The music is emotive, classy, and timeless. It sounds great in any atmosphere, and the album is incredibly well mixed, blending each song to the next beautifully. Fantastic voive, and superb backing band, this really is a must-have album!!!

Back to Black CD - reaaly like her music and best price on ebay. The songs are are all cool and it is an original and now sound.

What a brilliant track Back to Black is. I'm a bit out of it, not listening to the radio or the TV, but when she won five grammys I listened to it on the internet. It blew me away. Fantastic voice. I hope she manages to sort out her problems and carry on singing like this - from a middle aged old fogey.

Not usually the kind of music id listen to but had this bought for xmas and to honest one of the best cds i have listened to in a long time.Great sultry soul music with real emotion would definately recomend.

what can i say about amy. great voice. unfortunately im not a fan. where i do admit rehab is a great single. i personally think shes a tina turner wannabe. cant dance but thats not a big thing. not many of us can. overall average

From up beat sing along classics to slower paced moody tracks this Album is a hit all the way through,a great Album which you'll go back to time after time.I'm glad to have this one in my collection.

This is a truly excellent album. Once you have listened to the album once you want to play it again as soon as it has finished (and how rare is that!!!)

It is easy to see why Amy Winehouse has won so many awards for her music. This is a great collection of songs with superb lyrics and is a prime example of Amy Winehouse's unique talent. There is a theme of heartbreak throughout the album but it's not overwhelming and you get the impression that it's more about acceptance of identifying weaknesses and then getting on with things.

Amy Winehouse really does have one of the most distinctive and amazing voices ever. She sings effortlessly and can sing in various styles ranging from mellow to power ballad and still sound natural.

The first two tracks on the album 1. Rehab; and 2. You Know I'm No Good; are quite pucnhy, almost pop songs and probably ones you've heard before. 'Rehab' is instantly recognisable and guaranteed to get everyone singing along. 'You Know I'm No Good' recently used as the soundtrack to the popular tv series Secret Diary of a Call Girl.

The next couple of tracks 3. Me & Mr Jones; and 4. Just Friends; are short and sweet and have a more soulful feel to them.

Track 5. Back to Black; has more of a gutsy beat to it with a theme of heartbreak in the lyrics. Track 6. Love Is A Losing Game; has a similar theme in the lyrics but is a slower, short track.

Track 7. Tears Dry On Their Own; is brilliant! The lyrics hint at sadness over a man but these are combined with a jazzy tune which gives this some power and attitude. Probably my favourite track on the cd.

Tracks 8. Wake Up Alone; and 9. Some Unholy War; are slower again and are probably my least favourite on the album as they are quite sad sounding songs. That's not to say they aren't good though!

Track 10. He Can Only Hold Her; is an amazing mix of soul and funk with a really catchy beat and background vocals. Once you've heard this, you'll be singing along with the background vocals. Such a shame that the track is so short!

Track 11. Addicted; is a really nice tune to end the album on. It has a more punchy sound and is more upbeat and positive sounding.

This is a great album and I would have no hesitation in recomming it to my firends. Amy Winehouse has a remarkable talent and fully deserves the praise she receives for her musical offerings!
