I saw Moby perform this material at Reading festival back in 96 when it came out. Previously I'd only heard his rave stuff which didn't float my boat and then this came out proving Moby was just an old metalhead / punk like many of the rest of us. It is very metal in places with but he's still sticking is beats in there, 'That's When I Reach For My Revolver' and 'Say It's all Mine' being the standout tracks. There are a couple of lighter instumentals on hear showing the way to the later Play album but it's not an album for the 'Play' era fan unless you like seriously rock out guitars. Vocally Moby's voice is better suited to what he is better known for but I would be out there buying the next rock album he made on the strength of this. The guy can play guitar!
