Johnny Cash seems to have been a mainstay of Popular American culture for his entire life, and what a life that's been.
These American Recordings (The entire set that is.) reflect that life with style and panache.
JC means many things to many different people, these albums show you what America meant to him, every facet of musical culture is represented here and all delivered in a way that can only be Johnny Cash, if only all recordings were as honest and simple as these, often stripped down to their bare minimum and delivered with an undeniable passion, totally devoid of all artifice and pretense, this is the way music should be.
Take some quiet time and listen to these albums alone, I guarantee you'll discover something new about yourself.
