Great story, interesting to look at. Not boring at all. Could be longer. The end was a bit too early.

A serial womaniser begins to question his lifestyle. Back in the days when men were cavemen and women were treated like doormats, Alfie came along and changed the world. Though pitched as a comedy, it was in reality a brutal morality tale about a sexual predator who ruins lives without care or conscience. Women saw themselves portrayed as victims, desperate for male attention and helpless without it, vulnerable, unstable and oppressed. So they fought for change. Men, meanwhile, were finally introduced to the notion of shame, and learned to treat women with respect. Four decades later a remake comes along that proves just how different things are today. As the original Alfie, Michael Caine was magnetic in the role. Though charming on the surface, impeccably suited and booted with decent wheels and a fair few quid in his pocket, he was a monster, selfish and ruthless with eyes like a shark, cold and hard. As the Noughties Alfie, Jude Law is every bit as pretty and certainly as charming as Michael Caine, but the ruthless, misogynistic aspects of his predecessor’s personality have now been replaced by conscience and empathy. This Alfie has a feminine side. Though he still manages to create all kinds of havoc, as he works his way from Marisa Tomei to Susan Sarandon via Nia Long and Sienna Miller, Alfie no longer holds all the cards. These days it’s the women who are in charge, and that gives this slickly enjoyable, casually amusing and lightly dramatic remake a perspective all of its own.

  Alfie - Jude Law
Review created: 11/11/07(updated 11/11/07)

This 2004 remake of the 1966 version has reiterated and modernised the message "What’s it all about".
Amazing performance by Jude Law, this outshines the original that starred Michael Cane.
If you get the chance to watch both versions, watch the original first.
The original is a bit too near the knuckle and typifies the male chauvinist jack the lad in the 1960s.
A must see film.

What’s it all about, Alfie?

A humorous, sexy and often touching tale (a remake of the Michael Caine classic) of Alfie, a philosophical Cockney womaniser who is forced to question his seemingly carefree existence...

  Aflie - Jude & Seinna - On!
Review created: 05/03/07

This is a great remake shining just as the original did so many years ago, with nice performance by Jude Law. Its a warm and charming tale of a man with a interest in, as he says in film, "wine and ladies and not much else!" Its set in New York however things don't go quite as he's planned. Great cinematography coupled with believable characters make this a must see!

Available cheaply in auction or buy it now, you will not purchasing this and will see it over and over!

I decided to buy this after borrowing a friends copy of it. I liked it the first time I saw it and I think Jude Law is a very impressive actor, there is also impressive performances from Sienna Miller and Marisa Tomei. I have watched it a few times now and I'm glad I bought it, plus it was a bargain from eBay! The film itself is good as it's based on the story of Alfie, a complete womaniser who every lady seems to fall for. He is then told he has a medical problem and starts to question his ways. It is good for the fact that the film shows things go wrong when you least expect it and women should not be taken for granted!
Excellent film, a great buy!

Went to the pictures to see this film, and had to have it on dvd!
Loved every minute of it. It's easy going but got some really heart-strings-tugging moments.
