I bought this CD because I am a fan of both KD Lang and Tony Bennett and I wanted to hear what they sounded like together. I really enjoyed the CD and I was really pleased that the two voices blend beautifully. My favourite track is the Louis Armstrong classic 'What a Wonderful World'.
This albm sound as though it was recorded at the same time as the 'Duets' album. The production and orchestration is uncannily similar, as is the quality. Everyone knows Tony Benett is a fine vocal virtuosoist, but few with the exception of those who have strayed from the path into the realms of 'new country' will appreciate just how superb KD Lang's voice is. On this album, the pair of them sound like they've been singing together for years. There's a very natuaral and 'un-forced' easiness to the albums content and delivery. With not an up-beat track in sight, this is a definite 'crooner's delight' and as the tracks gently melt into one another, you soon find that somewhere around 45 minutes have come and gone, and you didn't even notice! This is pure class. Tony Bennett is as slick and sprightly as ever. He's one of the few true icons of this genre who really have made the process of 'growing old gracefully' into an artform. KD's sun is still on the rise, and her style is so infectious, you find yourself finishing the album, but wishing there were some hidden or bonus tracks to prolong the experience. I really hope that they put this collabouration together again for a second helping. It's the perfect musical night cap any day of the week. Rating:- *****
