  Alright...
Review created: 13/06/08

As an avid 'consumer' of music, in virtually all it's genres, I often find myself in the position of "so much music to listen to, so little time". This results in the need to seperate the wheat from the chaff (to quote Gareth Keenen).

In this situation, albums need to demand your attention. They need to be better than the previous album you bought in that genre. It doesn't stop me buying them, because I'm always looking for that next diamond in the rough, but they need to be special enough to bring me back to them. And that's where I come to my point (eventually)... this is not special.

It doesn't stand out. Nothing here is new, and nothing here is of such pop genius that you completely forgive it's lack of originality. But hey, if you've got a couple of guitars and some skinny jeans, you get signed these days, so it's not the bands fault. It almost feels like this type of band would never have graduated from garage practice sessions without the NME, and the NME wouldn't have anything to write about without bands like these.

"Kill The Director" and "Moving to New York" stand out above the rest of the tracks as very catchy, well written, energetic songs that make you want to hit repeat when it ends. And although the single "Let's Dance to Joy Division" is also a lot of 'fun' (condescending, I know), it's not really like any of the other tracks on this album, which make a valiant effort at being light, catchy indie music, but fail to live up to the three big records above (and are therefore pretty skippable).

So, it's not bad, it has it's moments. No doubt they're nice lads and they seem to be having a good time, but... you've heard it all before. We've had bands like The Maccabees & Good Shoes do a similar thing this year far better, so I'd reach for those before this every time.

  Marsupial Madness
Review created: 22/05/08

A weird opening track starts this CD off and the fickle listener would probably be deterred, but persevere because the next song sets the scene for the rest of the album, which is basically filled with good quality, quirky, catchy, alternative "pop" songs. A bit reminiscent of the cure vocally in places and also echoes of Arctic Monkeys here and there. A good debut, well done Wombats! Nice insert with all the lyrics in proper writing (not printed)too which converts to a fold out poster on the reverse.

The Wombats - A Guide To Love Loss And Desperation
Review created: 31/03/08

By now you will have probably heard of The Wombats--in particular their heavily rotated singles like "Let's Dance to Joy Division" (a song title that’s difficult to forget, or ignore) and ("Kill the Director"). Comprised of two Liverpudlians and a Norwegian, The Wombats--as their name and track titles suggest--indulge in a highly addictive type of ‘novelty-rock’ that’s edgy, well-produced--and more seriously infectious than that label would suggest. A Guide to Love ..., their debut album, is crammed to the rafters with fast-paced, catchy rock songs that offer wry lyrics and memorable sing-a-long choruses, and are fully intended to make you leap around the dancefloor. Think of Franz Ferdinand and the Kaiser Chiefs jamming with The Monkees and you won’t be far wrong. The album is surprisingly diverse though, ranging from the barbershop jam "Tales of Girls, Boys and Marsupials" to the disco beats of "Backfire at the Disco" and the catchy hooks of "Patricia the Stripper". Where this high-octane trio will go after such a cheery, brave opening gambit is anyone’s guess. Best to enjoy these jerky pop japes while they last.

How to get an iPhone, Wii, PS3 or 360 for nothing!

The Free iPhone Guide

To get yourself a free iPhone all you have to do is follow the 3 easy steps:

Step 1 : Sign up for a free iPhone
Sign up at the link below to get your free iPhone. We recommend this free iPhone site because it's been TRIED and TESTED to work.

http://kudosnetwork.co.uk/?ref=174 (copy and paste into browser)

You can choose other prizes like free consoles from this site too! Make sure you use a real email address. Use your real details when you sign up so that the company knows where to send your iPhone! Remember that they have been proven legitimate, so will send you your free iPhone if you do everything legitimately!

Step 2 : Try an advertiser's offer
Basically all you need to do in this step is complete one of the offers, this is where the freebie site make their money, if you complete an offer then the freebie site will recieve commission for it. So if you complete Coral which will only cost you £5 to complete, the freebie site gets £25 from Coral. The two best offers are Lovefilm Free DVD rental (rent two DVD's, keep them for about 2 days, send them back and then cancel the trial) and Coral (bet £5 on a sport). I would reccommend you do Coral as it credits in an hour and is really simple to do, Lovefilm however can become complicated and takes up to 2 weeks to credit! You can also try one of the other offers, most are gambling offers. Don't skip this step! You must complete this step to get your free iPhone!

Step 3 : Refer some friends
This part is a lot easier than it seems, especially now with free iPhone sites getting so popular. There's lots of people online who want a free iPhone too, so start referring them! You only need to get a few signups before you'll be finished. You can ask your friends or your online buddies. I already got a free PS3, Wii, and XBOX Elite without even having to ask my friends for help - there's lots of people online who want a free iPhone like you! One of the easiest ways to get a referral is to do a favour for a friend and ask them to sign up in return. That way, you both can get a free iPhone!

Basic rules
Don't break these rules! This is the only reason that you won't get your free iPhone, so make sure you follow these rules!

- One account per household - don't use a public computer to sign up!
- Use real information - this is a proven legitimate site and they will not give out your information.
- Only complete each offer once! You cannot complete the same offer again, even for different freebies.
- Don't try to cheat the system. This site has been proven legitimate, and they will catch you if you try to cheat. If you do everything legitimately, by following this guide, you will get a free iPhone!

Thats all, just follow my guide and you will have your free iPhone in no time.

Thank you.

  Wombats Album
Review created: 20/01/08
by:

Famed for live performances of the last year The Wombats seem set to be propelled in to public consciousness in a somewhat similar style to Klaxons last year. But their debut effort shows not all things are signed, sealed and delivered with one album. The singles so far have received heavy rotation (Moving to New York being the highlight at present) and in the main part are a decent indie disco dancealong - this is something which runs through the whole of the album. Too early for a mercury?

Review created: 17/01/08

definitely worth a listen to, this cd is a breath of fresh air and i love it, most of my friends have it and they all feel the same, this band has not had enough hype and i think once they get going on mainstream radio they will end up being one of the most successful band of this year, if you like the enemy then you will love this cd, give it a try.
