I never really liked Rush from the early Led Zeppelin impersonaters up tp 1990 when loaned a copy of 2112 which at the time I believed was a waste of the vinyl it was grooved onto.
Recently an old friend of mine loaned me Farewell to Kings, which I thought were instructuions for a card game. After the intial listen I was pleasantly surprised how good the music was. Several plays later I was hooked and purchased my copy from an ebay seller for the princely sum of 370 pennies plus postage.
Remember this is my opinion, not yours, before purchasing any music, you should at least attempt to listen to the album in question or other material by the artist.
Farewell to the Kings is classic 1970's rock from Rush, a band that have been around since the early 70's and still going strong. With Rush you get intelligent lyrics and excellent musicianship. Their style is varied but this album is dominated by clean sounding guitar melodies interspersed with heavier sounding riffs and with a touch of synth, especially on Cygnus X-1. There are only 6 tracks but two, Xanadu and Cygnus X-1 are over the 10 minute mark and qualify as epic rock tracks. This album continued the rich vein of form from their previous album, 2112.
