This complete collection of "a bit of Fry and Laurie" is more than just a bit of... It shows their progress from early glimpses of the genius comics Messrs Fry and Laurie were to become. Early bits smack of Cambridge Footlights but when those slightly aloof shackles are shed in the second series, the duo begin to come into their own...wonderful excess and silliness like the' England and cream...' sketch, 'Tony and Control', and the recurring vox pops...
By the fourth disc it really is getting consistently hilarious! If you can stomach the brave creative development from the early episodes (including the pilot)the overall result is well worth it...and
One of the best british comedy duo's, series one is very raw material, by series four its great! Fry and Laurie have a tremendous chemistry together, and I love the toff oxford graduate comedy these two create, complete madness!!!
the two guys at the bar sketch is a great example of word play (ronnie barker-esk)
I'm a bit of a QI fan and now that Hugh Laurie is a big star in the USA I thought about getting Fry and Laurie on DVD to go with my collection. This set is excellent as it contains everything theyve done as F a L - pilot, reviews and the complete 4 series. The scripting and the use of language is excellent as you can imagine with Stephen Fry, and there are a lot of memorable characters in there as well. For someone collecting tv shows, or a Fry and Laurie fan this is a must buy, neatly packaged in a boxed set. Wonderful!
