Firstly, i agree with everything the other reviewers have said!
In brief; this is the prequel to the film '30 Days of Night', presented as a mini-series of 7 episodes.
I was VERY disappointed with this DVD... in fact, i felt a bit conned by it!
I was expecting something feature length but it's actually only 40 mins. OK, my fault, i should have read the running time! I could have lived with 40 mins tho if it actually was 40 mins... but it isn't! A good proportion of that 40 mins is wasted due to the episode style format. Each of the 7 episodes has the intro before it & a re-cap of the last episode... I DON'T NEED A RE-CAP OF SOMETHING I SAW 3 MINUTES AGO!!! I'M NOT A GOLDFISH & I DON'T HAVE ALZHEIMERS!!!
And that brings me to the next bone of contention... each 'episode' is only about 3 mins long. Surely the term 'mini-series' is a breach of the descriptions act here? How about 'micro-series'? Or even 'nano-series'?
Then, to add insult to injury, the contents do nothing to enhance the experience of having watched '30 Days...'. It doesn't answer any questions that '30 Days...' may have left you with, it doesn't clarify anything. It just made me ANGRY!!!
If this had been made into a proper, full length film it could have been pretty good. But it wasn't & that's a real shame.
Definately don't bother if you haven't seen '30 Days...'
If you saw '30 Days...' & enjoyed it then, like the other reviewer said, it might be worth a watch. Knowing exactly what you're getting might off-set any disappointment you'd otherwise get from it.
I did not like the fact that on the cover it did not tell you that the film was in very short sections, and it could have been better if the makers had strung the sections together to make a longer film, other than that it was interesting.
7 short Prequel Episodes that were broadcast on the Web to promote the film 30 Days of Night all on 1 DVD. There is some blood and gore, but the story is a bit patchy and parts of the next 'webisode' are shown after each very short episode. DVD does contain some extras. If you liked 30 Days of Night then this is worth a couple of quid. If you didn't then stay clear. Not an essential purchase even if you do like Vampires.
