preaching to the converted, die hard fans only

Bought for my son, who caught his Bon Jovi obsession from his parents. This album could be considered a con, as most of it is to be honest, tracks or versions that didn't make it onto earlier albums because they either weren't commercial enough, or simply weren't good enough. One or two tracks stand out because of the raw "live" sound which unfortunately gets filtered out in the studio, the sound of the pik running along a guitar string can be very refreshing after most of todays sanitized computer generated sounds.
The video and interview parts are also interesting, but only to someone who is already a fan of the man and his band.
Basically it is not going to win any new followers. It could even be considered a cynical money making exercise, Put all the old tat that was lying about the studio in one expensive box in the knowledge that the true fans will find the money to buy it somehow, "because they have to have it".
Personally, had I listened first, I wouldn't have bought it. My 18 year old son is happy because he now has the full collection. Me I think the £45 is better put towards a ticket to see the band live, I'll be at Southampton in June 08, Jon Bon Jovi is god, the sun will shine and 70000 people will see the best concert since the last Bon Jovi gig, but buy this CD collection, I wouldn't bother.
